Dental Assisting Instructor
Under the direction of the Assistant Program Director/Campus Course Director, the Instructor is responsible for delivering a quality educational experience for the students in the Dental Assisting courses that you teach through ensuring that curriculum is up-to-date, that effective delivery methods are employed, and that all students are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Instructor is responsible to track performance and attendance of all students and generating education department reports as needed.
Present facilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus and school policies.
Continually promote students' development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision-making.
Provide the student with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework and projects.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance.
Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school policies, and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement.
Follow all retention policies of the school to ensure students are in attendance.
Other duties as assigned
AA or AS Degree required, Bachelor's degree or above preferred.
Hold a valid, active, and current license issued by the Board or the Dental Hygiene Committee of California,
o Licensed or permitted for a minimum of three years, and possess experience in the subject matter he or she is teaching.
RDA (Registered Dental Assistant with California Board of Dentistry); 3 year minimum and current, non-encumbered license required.
CDA (Certified Dental Assistant with Dental Assisting National Board).
X-Ray License and Coronal Polish / Certification preferred.
Completion of a course or certification in educational methodology of at least 30 hours unless
o Holds a postgraduate degree in education,
o Holds a Ryan Designated Subjects Vocational Education Teaching credential,
o Holds a Standard Designated Subjects Teaching Credential,
o Holds a Community College Teaching Credential.
Prior teaching or related field experience preferred.
Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with a diverse staff and student population.
Ability to manage key metrics.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Consistently demonstrate the highest levels of integrity.
Must be proficient with the use of computers.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
