Payroll Specialist

Location: Newport Beach, California
Unitek Learning is looking for a Payroll Specialist for our Newport Beach Corporate offices. Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely production of payrolls and related reports.
Some responsibilities will include: 
•    Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner for 500+ employees for more than one company utilizing the Company's timekeeping system (ADP Time and Attendance)
•    Process manual Ad hoc items such as manual checks related to bonus, missed hours, PTO and such. 
•    Prepare payroll account reconciliations. 
•    Prepare journal entries including payroll accrual, 401k Match accrual, PTO accrual and such.
•    Setup any new tax jurisdictions
•    Manage and resolve issues relating to payroll. 
•    Ensure all payroll information and records are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements 
•    Process stop payments, check replacements, and termination checks
•    Set up, audit, and resolve direct deposit payments, rejections, and reversal requests. 
•    Process garnishments setups, modifications and terminations and ensure disbursement payments are processed accurately and timely.
•    Ensure compliance with federal wage earning laws
•    Consistently deliver the best in customer service. As an employee, demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with customers, visitors and other employees
•    Actively follow and promote a safe working environment 
•    Other duties as may be assigned or determined appropriate.
Education and Experience: 
•    Knowledge and understanding of payroll principles, methods, systems, and procedures 
•    Knowledge of all relevant payroll, employment, and income tax laws, regulations
•    Knowledge of the payroll aspects of employee benefits policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. 
•    Knowledge of and the ability to utilize and manage automated payroll and/or human resources information systems
•    Strong MS Office skills
•    Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
•    Experience with multi-company entities and inter-company transactions
•    Excellent organizational skills.
•    Attention to detail and well-developed time management skills
•    Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is preferred
